Tipping Point Ch.3 Summary

In the Tipping Point's Ch.3 Malcolm Gladwell talks about what he calls the "stickiness factor," this chapter explains the epidemic of the educational "virus." Shows that have experienced this epidemic include Sesame Street and Blue's Clues, two child educational television shows.
To get things to "stick" they are shown repeatedly, (in this chapter's case, on the television) and take many word-to-mouth epidemics to become popular.
Unfortunately the process of getting a "stickiness factor" takes a generally very long time to develop. And if you happen to be interested in a maybe considered "shortcut" is the field of direct marketing.
This chapter lets you think about why certain shows become popular and why others become huge failures.
