Tipping Point by: Malcolm Gladwell Chap.1

In Chapter 1 of the Tipping Point Gladwell gives a description of the three rules of epidemics. First, he starts out with the epidemic of syphilis which he explains tipped when the drug crack cocaine became big because he explains that crack cocaine because if the recipient of crack were to have a baby they would increase the babies chance as well as theirself a chance at getting syphilis. Next he explains of the Hush puppie epidemic that came back into style starting with East village kids. He also explained the rule of 80/20 which meant 80 percent of the work would be done by 20 percent of the participants which in many cases is absolutely true. For example I've heard that this was the case in the inventing of gatorade which a lot of people took the credit for inventing it while probably 20 percent of the inventors actually invented it. Gladwell also explains how the connector works and how most epidemics are strongly influenced by their situation.

Now, on a personal note, so far in the Tipping Point I have a hard time connecting with the author's topics. But, two things that do intriuge me (random but interesting) in this book is the setup he uses for each chapter by dividing it into 4 main parts. And also how the 4th part of the chapter was the exact same as the 4th part of the intro. I wonder why? hmmmmm?
